If you are unsure, you and your child come for an Initial consultation. We find out why you are considering an autism assessment and we explain what the process involves. The clinician gets to meet, interact and observe your child. Then together decide if it’s appropriate to take the next step to a full Autism Assessment. The same clinician will be involved in the further assessment.

This will involve a Speech & Language Therapist and a Psychologist. We will complete an interview with parents, an assessment with your child in our clinic, observe home videos of your child (if you are happy to send them), gather information from your child’s education, review any previous reports and information from previous therapists. If a cognitive assessment is necessary, let us know and we will schedule this on another day with the same psychologist.

Both clinicians will complete a report with all the information gathered from people in your child’s life and the informed assessments. The report information on educational needs, additional supports, necessary therapies, and parent/teacher resources. A feedback session will be completed to go through the report and answer questions.
